Vaporesso Polar Kit Review
By Dylan Hartridge
Introduction:
The Vaporesso Polar is a dual 18650 mod with a max output of 220W. With a blazing fast firing speed of 0.001s, newest OMNI Board 4.0 chipset, and beautiful 2in high-definition color screen this vape not only looks absolutely gorgeous, it also performs like a beast. Onboard charging has been optimized to support 2.5A quick charging. The included Cascade Baby SE tank has an unique liquid feeding system and looks state-of-the-art compared to most other sub ohm tanks these days. With options to customize just about everything you could want for your specific vaping style, you really can’t go wrong with this kit.
OMNI Board 4.0 Chipset:
First off, this vape is stuffed with features and different performance options. It’s got your normal power mode with 3 different preheating options (soft/normal/high); it’s got variable TC (SS/Ti/Ni) with adjustable TCR; and it has a variable voltage mode. But even better, each of those also has a curved version which allows you to get the perfect regulated vaping experience regardless of what mode you want to use. Finally, there are two different memory modes (M1/M2), a Super Player mode that allows you to use coils ranging from 0.03-5.0ohm, and a Bypass mode as well. The display looks crisp and amazing and you have the ability to switch theme colors. With the Smart setting turned on, the mod will automatically adjust your wattage to an appropriate level when you put a new atomizer on. The other setting, Automatic, will adjust your preheat level for you to optimize it for the specific resistance of your tank. Finally, you get a somewhat advanced puff counter that goes up to 99,999 and also gives you a total vaping time in minutes.
Performance & General Use:
This vape is compact and feels incredibly comfortable in hand. The firing button takes a nice push to activate and pivots from the bottom. I really love the appearance of this mod. With its striking colors and detailed information screen, the thing looks like a piece of art. Power mode instantly engages and gives a very smooth and even vaping experience, it actually fires so quickly that I usually left the preheat option as normal or soft. Having a curved power mode as an option is amazing when using non-TC compatible coils, it really lets you fine tune the vape. I generally like to stick to TC when I’m using my rda though. The TC mode is very well done and you get everything you need for excellent control and adjustment. You can lock resistance, set a power max, and adjust your TCR setting. With some SS316l coils, I was having the best experience with TCR adjusted to around 86, a bit lower than the usual 92. While having a good TC mode is awesome, curved TC lets you get crazy detailed with how you want the vape to behave, after using it for a while it’s hard to use a vape without CCT. The memory modes are a nice feature to have when you use different TC coils and like to swap around often. I played around with the variable voltage modes a bit but I’m just used to watt or TC at this point; I know some vastly prefer to have adjustable voltage over wattage though. Finally, I have yet to use Super Player or Bypass as I enjoy sticking with a very controlled vaping experience.
Cascade Baby SE Tank:
I generally don’t enjoy using sub ohm tanks but the Cascade Baby really surprised me. Out of all the tanks I’ve gotten with kits, this is the only one I would actually use when not vaping with a rebuildable. The coil sits below the tank in an “isolation structure” and the fluid cascades down from above onto the coil. First, this lets you vape almost all your juice without ever having the coil become unsubmerged. I’m always super paranoid about keeping a tank full so the coils are saturated, this completely eliminates that problem. The other benefit is that it keeps your e-juice cooler since it’s not surrounding the coil and heating up like a typical tank. It’s got a safety locking feature so you’ll never have juice randomly spilling into your pocket or bag from a top cap being pushed open. You’ve also got a ton of air with the tri-airflow ring at the bottom. The GT Mesh coil was extremely tasty as well! The juice vents on the side are smaller but with all the surface area of the mesh strip, it can very evenly vaporize quite a lot of juice at once. It did a bit better in flavor than other sub ohm mesh coils but life span was pretty much right on average. Another benefit of this tank is the expansive GT coil family, with 8 different choices for coils you can really get whatever you want. I highly recommend the GT Mesh coil that comes preinstalled with the tank, but I’m also excited to try the GT CCell coils which use ceramic and apparently produce some outstanding flavor at much lower wattage.
Conclusion:
I’ve tried a fair amount of different mods and kits at this point and I have to say, this is easily one of the best. I really couldn’t find any negatives about this kit, and that’s probably the first time I can say that. The mod is a beautiful piece of art and it’s chock full of literally everything a vaper could want or imagine. TC mode is far better than other mods at this price and the level of customization is crazy. If you’ve ever tried the older Vaporesso Revenger (an amazing mod as well) the Polar is basically the evolution of that vape in every way. The Cascade Baby SE tank with mesh coil is downright awesome, finally not the same old carbon copy that comes in almost every other kit. If they made dual or triple GT mesh coils in the future, I’d be beyond ecstatic. If you like non-simple and the ability to fine tune every part of your vape to get that perfect setup, I’d highly recommend this kit to you. Thank you for reading my thoughts!
