Vaporesso VM Stick 18 Review
Tried and true technology in a miniaturized package, or more of the same old tech that’s tired and boring? That’s the angle I’m struggling to overcome my own trepidation on with this latest device from Vaporesso, the VM Stick 18. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with the VM Stick, far from it in fact. But I have to ask, who is this device built for besides beginner vapers? Even then, would you really want to introduce someone to this fantastic world of vaping technology with such a limited device?
I’ve had my hands on this device for a week or so, putting it through every test I can think of to see if its worth your time. Here’s a full breakdown of the Vaporesso VM Stick 18 ahead of its release.
The Looks
That whole tried and true vs. same old same old argument really comes to the forefront when talking about the design of the VM stick 18. It’s built with the same pen style design that you’ve seen since 2014, featuring a cylindrical battery body with a compact tank on top. The device has a flat base complete with what appears to be a battery venting hole in the center. Available in a multitude of colors with zinc-alloy frame construction.
The VM does have one aspect of it’s design that sets it apart from the crowd. It’s easily one of the smallest pen style devices that I’ve ever seen. I can place the VM Stick 18 on top of an 18650 battery and it’ll balance upright just fine. That’s how lightweight and skinny the VM is, truly a sub-ohm device that’s built to be travel friendly.
Not to mention the 1200mAh battery is built in, so no need to worry about spare batteries and a separate charging dock. Simply plug the VM Stick 18 into a micro USB charger and you’re good to go!
How it Works
Surprisingly well for a device of its size actually. I thought it might hit a little weak just going by the 1200mAh battery, but this little guy packs a great punch with salt nic juices. I would definitely recommend you start with regular nic levels (3MG or 6MG) before trying this device with 25MG+ salt nic juices.
With that being said, if you’re looking for something that can vape salt nic like a pod device but you want something that can do regular E-Liquid at sub-ohm too then the VM Stick 18 was made for you. It fires with direct voltage output so its a simple 5 clicks of the fire button for on/off. It does feature an LED backlight around the fire button, which glows during charging or firing. I’m not the biggest fan of the EUC CCELL coil it comes installed with, I find that ceramic coils don’t really do vape juice flavors well.
The Verdict
Here’s the thing with the Vaporesso VM Stick 18, it’s a solid little device that offers users a choice between salt nic and regular sub-ohm vaping. Despite the fact that it’s been done to death, pen style devices work well for a reason. They appeal to a variety of users with their ergonomic platform and approachable design. Not to mention the small form factor of the VM Stick is one of the greatest things about it. We’re talking about a vape device that has a smaller diameter than an 18650 battery! It actually weighs about the same as a 18650 battery as well, and that’s with a filled tank attached!
I’d give this one a pass if you’re already vaping at 80W+. But for beginner vapers, or veterans looking for a high powered salt nic device, I think the Vaporesso VM Stick 18 is a safe buy.
